Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after March of that year.

The win also signifies the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a close final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
